John WONG – Burnaby School Trustee Candidate

John settled in Burnaby in the early 1990s and attended secondary school at Burnaby Central and later graduated from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree at CUHK in engineering.

He served as a training officer for the Sea Cadets aboard and is on the standing board of the Navy League in Vancouver. He has experience in youth leadership and development, and John earned qualifications from his cadet experience in managing young people.

He understands from first-hand experience that a well-rounded individual is shaped not by academics alone but by comprehensive, objective training that builds character, resilience, and the ability to work with others.

Professionally, John brings a combination of global experience as a business manager with multinational technology companies. He led programs spanning technology startup, marketing, and project management across multilingual and multicultural environments.

John believes that the greatest challenges facing the next generation of students demand focused, courageous leadership. His platform is built on six priorities:
